3 week - Ceramics Photography

  • Class Fee: $150 (includes membership to studio for duration of the class)

  • Please Note: Any changes to an order (switching class sessions etc) must happen 10 days, or more, prior to the beginning of the purchased session. ClayFolk cannot offer refunds for a class if the change is requested within the 10 days before the purchased session begins.


Start Date:

  • Wednesday, 2PM - 4PM with Aaron Weeks - Aug 12th, 19th, 26th

(same time every week for those 3 weeks)

In this 3 week class you will learn the basics of portfolio style photography for ceramics. We will cover lighting, different ways to create backdrops, understanding camera settings, and basics of editing. You will learn how to capture form, glaze, and detail. No prior photography experience or camera is needed. Techniques covered will be applicable to most camera types, including phone photography. Students should bring up to 3 finished pieces to photograph.

*Students will not be making any new clay pieces in this class, but can create during their open studio access

Includes:

    • Firing/baking of your pottery

    • Glazes/materials

    • Use of studio machinery, tools and equipment

    • 18"x14"x15" personal shelf storage space at CLAYFOLK

    • Access to Open Studio Hours (Thursday-Monday 12PM-7PM). This access is unlimited during the 6-week course!

    • 2 hour class session in studio, meet new people, and ask your instructor questions while practicing!

Projects include:  Professional style photos of students’ finished ceramics

FAQ:

  • Q: Can I make up a class?

  • A: No, but do not fear, your instructors will be around during open studio time to help catch you up.

  • Q: When are Open Studio Hours?

  • A: Thursday-Monday from 12PM -7PM. Hours are subject to change during workshop days, but 7 days notice will be given to students.

  • Q: What’s the age limit for the class?

  • A: 16. Anyone 16 or older may be present without a guardian as long as their guardian has signed the student agreement for them.

  • Q: Can I bring my child?

  • A: Sadly not to the class. This said we welcome kids during open studio hours - parents can simply pay a child day pass fee ($15) for their child and come and go from the studio for the duration of that day.
